Jonny Flynn: Never On Schedule But Always On Time

28 points and 9 assists in his collegiate debut. Better than 'Melo and certainly better than what Sherman Douglas, Gerry McNamara, and Pearl Washington did in their first Syracuse game. But it was his second game that put this Orange freshman on the map. After dropping buckets and dimes on Monday against Siena, Flynn came back with 5 points and 6 assists on Tuesday against St. Josephs. The dropoff meant very little to Flynn because he had only one turnover and consistently found his teammates in good spots and made the extra pass that led to buckets. His five points came when Syracuse needed them the most. WIth the score knotted at 69, Flynn pulled up from at least a foot beyond the three line to nail the game winner with just over five seconds left.

OJ Mayo scored 32 in his debut, but USC lost to Mercer by 15...MERCER!!

The 2006 class that featured Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, and Brandan Wright was considered the year of the freshman but after watching the brilliant play of guys like Flynn, teammate Donte Green, Mayo, Kevin Love, Eric Gordon, Mike Beasley, and Derrick Rose, this year could be even better.
