England fired coach Steve McClaren today after they failed to qualify for the Euro 2008 championships. Are you serious? England is one of the proudest countries in Europe and has a long history of great soccer. Think about the talent they have: John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Wayne Ronney, Peter Crouch. This team has pieces that were simply out beat by the Croatians which led to McClaren's firing effective immediately. Many US fans only watch soccer during the World Cup but there is a lot of there in between during those four years. Champions League soccer keeps fans on the edge of their seats and provides almost an exclusive All-Star League every season. US fans don't realize that soccer really is the beautiful game.
