College Football Thoughts from 11/17/2007

WHO WANTS TO WIN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?

Oregon and Oklahoma has left the race for the title after their losses this past week. Oregon's loss can be attributed to the loss of QB Dennis Dixon for the season with an ACL tear and Oklahoma's loss could also be because of QB Sam Bradford's concussion in the first half. Injuries happened but so be it, Kansas is looming around and are on the fast track to the National Title. They have one more regular season game left and it could very well decide the National title. Kansas will be traveling to Columbia and taking on AP ranked #3 Missouri. Wow, the last week of the regular season and college fans will be treated to a #2 vs #3 matchup. If Kansas wins and then wins in the Big 12 title game than the Jayhawks will have completed a slow program turnaround that can really be credited to the great coaching of Mark Mangino. BUT if Missouri wins this game than the have to win the Big 12 title game to go to the National title game.

A very interesting story is brewing in Morgantown. West Virginia was counted out after their early season loss at South Florida. The Mountaineers have not lost since and could be looking for a national title if the winner of the Kansas/Missouri game loses to most likely Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game. Interesting things are brewing in football and after this season, the pressure for a playoff could be even hotter.

And if Kansas, Missouri, and West Virginia lose, Ohio State could be back. With the way this season has played out, who knows.
